The NBA star said, “That boy ate some lemon heads before walking into court,” adding three laughing emojis.
Rittenhouse took the stand Wednesday claiming he acted in self-defense when he shot at people during an Aug. 2020 protest in Wisconsin.
The 17-year-old is being hit with multiple criminal charges including two counts of homicide, “I didn’t do anything wrong. I defended myself,” Rittenhouse said in court per TMZ.
On the stand, the teen appeared to get emotional explaining his actions and appeared to sob. Some — like James — question whether he was actually upset, or acting to curry sympathy from the jury. There was a short break in the proceedings so that he could get himself in order.
Rittenhouse’s attorneys are asking for a mistrial due to some more drama that went down in the courtroom.
Officials asked Rittenhouse about an incident that Bruce Schroeder, the judge, had previously ruled would not be permitted as evidence in which he responded,”You know very well that an attorney can’t go into these types of areas when the judge has already ruled without asking outside the presence of the jury to do so,” Schroeder explained per TMZ.
Court proceedings are slated to resume Thursday.
