Best/Worst Times To Hit The Road For Thanksgiving Travel
Even though you probably already have your Thanksgiving travel plans in place, AAA has a few suggestions on the best/worst times to hit the road to avoid big traffic headaches.
Today (Wednesday) is expected to be the busiest weekday travel day since the start of the pandemic. AAA officials say it’s best to either leave super early in the morning or wait until late in the evening if possible, but they say the worst time to drive will be between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m. The best time to leave today? After 9 p.m.
If you decide to wait until Thanksgiving to hit the road, the heaviest travel times are expected to be between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Now, let’s talk Black Friday. Most stores will open early, so if you leave early you’ll be in good shape. Peak traffic on Friday should be between 1pm and 4pm.
For returning travelers on the roads, traffic is expected to peak Saturday between 2pm and 7pm. Then the mad rush to get home Sunday will be between 1pm and 7pm.
Be safe, have fun and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
