Florida Woman Driving Golf Cart On I-95 Arrested

A Florida woman driving golf cart on I-95 arrested while drunk.  The 58 -year old woman, identified as Diane Hawk, was arrested on Saturday night in Brevard County.

She was in possession of an open bottle of Jack Daniels and was visibly drunk.  She now faces misdemeanor charges of disorderly intoxication in a public place and resisting an officer without violence.

According to the FHP report, a semitruck driver spotted the woman driving in the golf cart in the center lane of Interstate 95 in Brevard County, which is the heart of Florida’s Space Coast. The truck driver used her semi to steer the golf cart driver to the shoulder of the interstate, troopers said.

Once on the shoulder, the truck driver grabbed the keys to the golf cart as the woman tried to drive away. Once troopers arrived at the scene, the woman started arguing with them and insisted she needed her bag. Inside the bag, troopers found the open bottle of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Fire Whiskey, authorities said.

Fox 35 in Orlando also reports she said she was trying to get to SR-528 and told troopers it was legal to drive a golf cart on I-95 “because she saw it on the news.”

I don’t like driving on 95 in my car!  I can’t imagine a golf cart On I-95…while intoxicated!

Judging by the overwhelming flow of people migrating to the area, I’m guessing not many people have seen this video. So I’m gonna share it. Not because I agree with everything they say, but because I’d love it if less people moved here. I’ve been here 20 years and absolutely love it here. But wow, our roads were just not built to handle this many people.

Last weekend I went to Publix and was aghast at how many retirees were buying full carts of groceries. Snowbird season is supposed to end at Easter but these people didn’t look like they were planning to move back up north for the summer. More people are staying year round, and more people are moving here.

So if you’re one of the many, many, many people looking to move to Southwest Florida. Here’s a video of why you shouldn’t.
