On Oct. 1 SNL kicks off season 48 with Top Gun: Maverick actor Miles Teller hosting and Kendrick Lamar as the musical guest. On Oct. 8, Irish actor and filmmaker Brendan Gleeson will be hosting and Willow Smith will perform. The following Saturday (Oct. 15), “Thee Hot Girl Coach” will be pulling double duty as both the host and musical guest.

This will be Kendrick’s third time performing on SNL and Megan’s second time. Both artists released albums this year. First, Kendrick dropped Big Morale & The Big Steppers on May 13. The rapper began the album rollout with releasing “The Heart Part 5.” The video quickly made rounds on social media as it was the Compton native’s first time dropping a solo record since 2017. In the video, the rapper’s face morphs into several deepfakes. It included many Black male celebrities such as OJ Simpson, Will Smith, Jussie Smollett, Kobe Bryant, Kanye West, and Nipsey Hussle. In each verse, he raps touches on a personal topic related to the Black celebrity.  When he’s Ye he raps about West’s struggle with bipolar disorder and for Hussle, he speaks about the Compton rapper’s untimely death in 2019.

Kendrick later followed up with Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers which is split into two volumes of nine tracks with features from Ghostface Killah, Summer Walker, Portishead’s Beth Gibbons, Thundercat, Baby Keem, and more.

Megan released Traumazine last month and ever since then the rapper has been constantly showing out she can not only be great as an emcee but also as an actress. The rapper made her acting debut on STARZ’s P-Valley season two where she appeared as her alter ego, Tina Snow. She then appeared on Marvel’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law earlier this month.

10 Of Megan Thee Stallion's Best Songs: Ranked

  • 10. “Cry Baby” ft. DaBaby

    Share

DaBaby and Megan team up again for Megan's "Cry Baby" off of her 2020 album 'Good News.' The two have collaborated previously on Megan's "Cash Sh-t" and DaBaby's "Nasty." This song is about the two rappers flexing about their very busy sex lives. After Megan released a teaser of the video, it sparked the "Cry Baby Challenge" on TikTok which had fans imitate her twerk routine.

  • 9. “Girls in the Hood”

    Share

"Girls in the Hood" samples Eazy-E's "Boyz-N-The Hood (Remix)" as the Texan MC claims this was the 2020 version of her 2019 hit "Hot Girl Summer." Megan Thee Stallion and Bobby Sessions are credited as co-writers along with "Boyz-n-the Hood" writers Ice Cube, Eazy-E and Dr. Dre. The song was well-received by fans peaking at No. 5 on the Billboard.

  • 8. “Body”

    Share

Megan says she got inspired to write this song over quarantine when she was appreciating her body after getting a little "fluffy and thick," as the rapper explained in a YouTube video. The upbeat track made for a hit on TikTok as content creators mimicked Megan's moves. The song peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard chart and stayed on for 23 weeks after.

  • 7. “Thot S—“

    Share

Megan released "Thot S---" in June of 2021 and in the music video she portrays herself as her alter ego "Tina Snow." She later explained the meaning of the term "thot" on Twitter with her fans and how this song is about taking ownership over a term that is meant to degrade women and spinning it. The song peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard chart and spent 12 weeks on the chart.

  • 6. “Shots Fired”

    Share

From her 'Good News' album released in 2020, Megan was not playing fair with this track. "Shots Fired" is a diss track to the incident when Tory Lanez allegedly shot Megan in the foot. The song starts off with "Imagine n----- lyin' 'bout shootin' a real b---- (huh?)/ Just to save face for rapper n----- you chill with" and doesn't slow down from there.

  • 5. “Cash S—” ft. DaBaby

    Share

"Cash S---" was released in 2019 and stayed 11 weeks on the Billboard chart. This was the first time DaBaby and Megan collaborated on a track. The trap-heavy beat was supplied by LilJuMadeDaBeat, who also produced "Big Ole Freak."

  • 4. “Hot Girl Summer” ft. Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign

    Share

The phrase "Hot Girl Summer" was coined by the Houston native and when she asked fellow rapper Nicki Minaj and hitmaker Ty Dolla $ign to hop on this track the rest went down in history. The song spent 13 weeks on the Billboard chart and peaked at the No. 2 spot after it was released in August of 2019. This was Megan's first time teaming up with Nicki Minaj and  Ty Dolla $ign.

  • 3. “Big Ole Freak”

    Share

The track "Big Ole Freak" sparked the #BigOleFreakChallenge which invited fans to out-twerk Megan. It later became the rapper's first big hit. The song was released as the single to her 2018 mixtape 'Tina Snow.' The song was a huge success for the rapper becoming Megan Thee Stallion's first charting song.

  • 2. “WAP” Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion

    Share

Many would conclude that Cardi and Megan's "WAP" was a culture reset. The song topped the US chart, becoming Cardi's fourth #1 and Megan's second. The raunchy lyrics and racy Grammy performance became the topic of many think pieces. The song won the 2021 BET Hip Hop Awards "Best Collaboration" and "Best Song of the Year."

  • 1. “Savage (Remix)” ft. Beyoncé

    Share

In the height of the 2020 pandemic lockdown, Megan did not disappoint with her hit "Savage." As it was already making waves on TikTok as a viral dance challenge created by Keara Wilson, things got even better for the breakout star by adding Beyoncé on the remix. Megan spoke about working with Beyoncé to Entertainment Tonight, "And it’s just like, for Beyoncé to even do a song with me — I really only been out for like two years. This is the beginning of year number two. Like, Beyoncé? It’s really crazy.” Megan and Beyoncé won the Grammy for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for this song at the 2021 Grammy Awards Show.
