Florida’s Best Sandwich Is Right Here In Ft. Myers

Merriam Webster defines a sandwich as two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between.Β  This of course opens up the topic about whether or not a hot dog is a sandwich, but we will save that for another time.

The folks over at Cheapism.com wanted to find the best sandwich in each state, and Washington DC.Β  So, they went on an epic sandwich road trip to determine just that.Β  It turns out for those of us in Southwest Florida, we won’t have to travel far at all to find Florida’s Best Sandwich.Β  It’s right here in Ft. Myers on Metro Parkway at Wicked Good Deli.

Here’s what Cheapism.com had to say about this SWFL sandwich shop.Β  TheΒ Wicked Good DeliΒ has a smorgasbord of sandwich options under $10, but a standout that gets high marks is its $7 turkey club, piled high with shaved turkey, with crisp bacon and dressed up with fresh lettuce, tomato slices and mayo to your liking on toasted whole wheat bread. Lots of choices here to get your cheap sandwich on.

Well, that sounds delicious and pretty healthy!Β  That price point is looking good too!

When you think Florida, you think Mickey Mouse, the beach, sunshine and maybe oranges.Β  You’re certainly not thinking of chicken wings.Β  Sure, there are some great places to grab a bucket of wings with a beer during a game, don’t get me wrong.

But, where can you find Florida’s best chicken wings?

The folks over at EatThis.com did a study to determine the best chicken wings in each state.Β  So, which wings reign supreme here in Florida?Β  A place in St. Pete called Dr. BBQ.

While it’s not right here in Southwest Florida, it’s not too far.

Here’s what EatThis.com had to say about Dr. BBQ

Ray “Dr. BBQ” Lampe, pitmaster at the namesake restaurant, has won plenty of awards for his ‘que as an American Royal Hall of Fame pitmaster. What makes theΒ Dr. BBQΒ wings super special is the dual cooking process: The wings are smoked to get that classic ‘que flavor and then grilled to slowly render the fat from the meat.
