2 Of America’s Richest Self-Made Women Live In Southwest Florida
Forbes has released their list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women and 2 of them have residences right here in Southwest Florida. I already knew about one very successful judge who lives in Naples, but there’s another very wealthy self made woman here in Southwest Florida. And she lives on Marco Island.
The new study from Forbes reports “There are now a record 31 self-made women billionaires, up from 24 a year ago.” That’s an incredible amount. Some live right here in the Sunshine State. Seven of the top 100 of America’s Richest Self-Made Women list Florida as their main residence. Of them, the richest self-made woman in Florida is Safra Catz, the CEO of Oracle. She has a net worth of net worth of $1.9 billion and resides in Fort Lauderdale.
The Richest Self-Made Women In Southwest Florida
Coming in at number 58 on the list is someone we’ve known about for quite some time as she’s been spotted at the Naples Winter Wine Festival and around town. Judy Sheindlin, also known as “Judge Judy” has a net worth of $560 million and has multiple residences, but lists Naples as her primary. Most likely for tax reasons. According to Forbes, she made $47 million a year before taxes from 2012 to 2020. A big payday came in 2018 when she sold the rights to her episode library to CBS for $100 million. At 81 years old she’s still working, hosting Judy Justice on Amazon Freevee.
At number 87 on the Forbes list of richest self-made women is Iranian born Doreen Granpeesheh who lives on Marco Island. After receiving her doctorate in psychology at UCLA, Granpeesheh opened the Center for Autism and Related Disorders (CARD), an autism treatment firm, in 1990. Then, in 2018 she sold the firm to private equity firm Blackstone in a deal worth $600 million, netting her an estimated $315 million in cash. In 2023, CARD filed for bankruptcy and she was able to buy the company back for $50 million. A pretty savvy 5 year gain. She returned as the CEO of the firm which now operates 111 centers.
Granpeesheh has an estimated net worth of $390 million and owns a home on Marco Island’s North Point. She continues her work with CARD and also has a Youtube channel called “Ask Dr. Doreen” where she helps parents with Autistic children.
Other notables on America’s richest self-made women list in the pop culture world include Oprah Winfrey at number 14. Rihanna is listed at number 23. Taylor Swift is number 24 with an estimated net worth now at $1.3 billion. Madonna at 39. Beyonce at 45, with Kylie Jenner right behind her at 47. Celine Dion is 59th. Barbara Streisand at 72. Ellen DeGeneres and Dolly Parton tied at 76. Reese Witherspoon at 80. Katy Perry in 95th. Another Florida resident, Serena Williams takes the 97th position with a net worth of $340 million.
