5 Of The Best Halloween TV Episodes Of All-Time (Photo by Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images)

What are the best Halloween TV episodes of all-time? There are a lot to choose from!

It seems like basically every show has done a Halloween episode. At least one Halloween episode I should say. Many shows have done several and they usually end up being fantastic. But what are the best of the best? With so many out there is it possible to narrow it down to just 5? I’m going to give it my best shot, be ready for a lot of sitcoms.

What Are The Best Halloween TV Episodes Of All-Time?

When you think of Halloween TV episodes, you probably think about The Simpsons and its incredibly Treehouse Of Horror episodes. There have been many and fans seem to love them all. Because there are so many and they’re all so good I have decided to leave them off the list. It wouldn’t be fair to the other shows. Maybe one time I can do a separate list for the best Treehouse Of Horror episodes on their own. So, if you’re expecting them on the list you’re going to be let down. I have to say it again, yes, they deserve to be on the list but they’re simply too good.

Other animated shows have done great Halloween episodes too. South Park has a good one where they make fun of how outdated and haunted Blockbuster is. That was a good one. Family Guy has also done some Halloween episodes that were really funny. Stewie dressed up as a duck was adorable! However, even though I love those episodes and I am a huge fan of both of those shows neither one ended up making the list. I thought there were bigger and better Halloween TV episodes out there so they’ll remain Honorable Mentions. In fact, no animated show ended up making the final 5 on my list. Again, it’s just my list and it’s not definitive. If you have a problem with it, you can let me know and I can consider changing it. I reserve that right.

So, if those big episodes didn’t make the list? What did? Find out below! I list my 5 favorite Halloween episodes of all-time. Did your favorite make the list? Are you upset that your favorite was left out and unmentioned? Let me know! I’m probably missing some good ones that even I love and just happened to forget about. Ready to check out the list? Let’s get to it!

  • Boy Meets World - "And Then There Was Shawn"

The Halloween episode “And Then There Was Shawn” from Boy Meets World is one of the best Halloween TV episodes ever. It’s funny, it’s kind of scary, and it has a good plot. It’s almost like a mini movie. Fans of the show will love it and it can exist independently. There are so many quotes. It’s one of the best episodes of the show, too. It’s great and a must-watch.

  • The Office - "Halloween"

There were several Halloween episodes on The Office. All of them were enjoyable. However, the first one in Season 2 had to be the best. Michael has to fire someone and they’re all dressed up. It makes for some outstanding comedy. You really get to know Michael in the episode.

  • That 70s Show - "Halloween"

That 70s Show had a great Halloween episode in Season 2. It was called “Halloween.” It played off several famous comedies from the era. The references are great and it’s well shot and always funny. It was always one of my favorite shows and this was one of my favorite episodes. How could you not love Fez?

  • How I Met Your Mother - "The Slutty Pumpkin"

I don’t think How I Met Your Mother gets enough love. Sure, maybe people didn’t love the finale. But there were some great episodes along the way! Including an iconic Halloween episode with “The Slutty Pumpkin.” I always relate a lot to Ted and his desperation for true love. That was always me. This episode shows who Ted is and I like him (because he reminds me of myself). Hard to believe this was Season 1!

  • Modern Family - "Open House Of Horrors"

Finally, we have Modern Family. They did several Halloween episodes as well but the one that stands out has to be “Open House Of Horrors.” It wasn’t an easy pick because they’re all so good but this has always been my favorite. Claire loves Halloween and all things scary while Phil does not. She tries to scare him at work on Halloween and she succeeds…after a lot of effort. It’s great and I love the house that Phil is trying to sell. I want it.
