LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - MAY 15: Doja Cat poses backstage with the Top R&B Album award for 'Planet Her' during the 2022 Billboard Music Awards at MGM Grand Garden Arena on May 15, 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Doja Cat sweeping the R&B category at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards left fans confused as to why an artist’s whose music leans towards pop and hip-hop would be in the R&B category… let alone take home all of the awards Sunday night.

Summer Walker, who was in all three categories that Doja won — “Top R&B Artist,” “Top R&B Female Artist,” and “Top R&B Album” — expressed how she was confused that she did not win at least one award in her category.

“Well this was an interesting night,” the singer wrote on her Instagram Story Sunday (May 15). “Congrats to everyone but not 1 R&B win. Hm. Guess I just need to work harder lol Larry come break my heart [kissy face emoji].”

In Doja’s acceptance speech, she shouted out a couple of R&B artists including Summer.

“I think there is a lot of talented R&B artists out there right now,” the Planet Her singer said while accepting her award for ‘Best R&B Album.’ “You have Summer Walker, you have SZA, you have The Weeknd… and I think that everybody deserves this award, I really do.”
