April is Earth Month and Monday is Earth Day. However folks in Lee, Charlotte and Collier Counties are not waiting for Monday to celebrate. Check out these 9 Southwest Florida Earth Day and weekend events. Here are your Weekend Vibes to help you avoid a case of FOMO.

Even if you don’t go to any events, you can do your part to celebrate Earth Day. For example, if you head to the beach, pick up some trash on the way back to your car and throw it out. You can do that anywhere really.

Southwest Florida Earth Day Celebrations

Municipalities, parks and conservation organizations have all kinds of fun activities planned to celebrate planet earth. Scroll down to find a couple of the top events locally. In addition, you can create your own event and have some creative fun by upcycling and repurposing household items for Earth Day. Just click here to discover some cool DIY ideas.

Not everything has to do with celebrating the planet this weekend. They are celebrating prowess on the pickleball court in Naples. It is the final weekend for the internationally recognized Minto US OPEN Pickleball Championships. The tournament kicked off last weekend with amateur play. It wraps up this weekend with champions awarded in several categories.

In addition, you’ll find food festivals, music festivals and Home and Garden Shows happening. Sports fans take note. The Mighty Mussels are at home this weekend in Fort Myers. Before Sunday’s game there is Sports Card Mega Show at Hammond Stadium. Scroll down for all of the info

  • Minto US OPEN Pickleball Championships

    This is billed as the largest pickleball tournament in the world. 40,000 people attended last year’s events and 3000 players from around the world competed. Enjoy both amateur and pro competition along with a wheelchair division. The finals are this weekend at East Naples Community Park. Some events are free, other tickets prices range from $20-$60.   • ‘35th Annual Ding’ Darling Day

    It’s a conservation carnival in honor of Earth Day and for the Sanibel wildlife refuge but it’s being held at Lakes Park on Gladiolus Drive in Fort Myers. The celebration includes rock climbing, dunk tanks, carnival games, music, food and more. You can also take birding walks or a biking tour with a guide. Saturday 10am to 2pm. Free. More info here. 

  • Earth Day At The Conservancy Of Southwest Florida

    The Conservancy Of Southwest Florida and it’s Nature Center are celebrating Earth Day as well as their 60th anniversary on Saturday with all kinds of activities. They range from animal encounters and educational talks to kids activities and food trucks. The Nature Center is on Smith Preserve Way in Naples. 10am to 3pm. Free. More info here

  • Earth Day At Wonder Gardens

    The Wonder Gardens in Bonita Springs celebrates Earth Day Saturday with a variety of activities for the entire family. Enjoy yoga, embark on a scavenger hunt with the family and check out the many education stations and demos. There will also be arts and crafts, along with an Earth Day Market full of vendors. 10am to 2pm. Events free with paid Wonder Gardens admission. More info here

  • Taste of the World Food & Music Fest

    This is for all of you foodies and anyone who enjoys exploring different cultures. The day is full of a musical lineup that covers all genres and from all countries. The food comes from all over the world as well. Noon to 8pm Saturday. Laishley Park in Punta Gorrda. Tickets range from $7.50 to $40 More info here.

  • Fakefest

    This tongue and cheek musical festival is a tribute to rock legends the likes of Pearl Jam and The Cure. They are just two of the numerous rock-n-roll tribute bands playing at this outdoor concert Saturday. The fun is at Seminole Casino Hotel in Immokalee. Free. More info here.   

  • Home And Garden Show

    Time to do some spring sprucing in your home or your garden? Find almost anything you might need under one roof this weekend. From landscaping to kitchen, along with demo’s seminars and more.  The show is at Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center in Punta Gorda. Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm. Free  More info here.

  • Mighty Mussels

    The Jupiter Hammerheads baseball team is town this weekend to take on the Mighty Mussels. Friday is Princess and Pirates night. On Saturday, the theme is Grateful Dead and fireworks follow the game. Sunday, it’s all about the kids with free tickets and a run of the bases. The games are at Hammond Stadium, on Six Mile Cypress in Fort Myers. Ticket prices vary.  More info here.

  • SWFL Sports Card Mega Show

    If you love collectible cards of any kind this show is for you.  From baseball to Pokémon you can both buy and sell at this event. It’s before the Mighty Mussels game on Sunday, at Hammond Stadium in Fort Myers. The fun starts at 9am and goes until 3. First pitch is at 12:05 p.m. Free with game admission. More info here
