Weekend Vibes, what’s happening in Southwest Florida Oct 14-16.
Weekends have been anything but normal since Hurricane Ian struck Southwest Florida on September 28th. So many local events and activities have been postponed, rescheduled and simply canceled all together.
For others, the show is going on, it MUST go on. Every week it gets a little better as far as water safety, power restoration and damage repair.
Event organizers and business owners are sensitive to those who are hurting and those who are suffering loss. However, it is important for those who can open to not only start the healing momentum, but also to keep it going.
Many of these events are attaching fundraising and benefit arms to them. More of these kind of events and activities are being organized, even as I right this. They serve a double purpose in getting us back out while also giving us a reason. If you are feeling a little down from all of the hurricane destruction, being around others who are feeling the same, might just be good medicine. It might also help you escape, if even for just a short time. Also, if you are looking for ways to give back and contribute, some of these events might be right up your alley.
Farmer’s Markets are perhaps, one of the best ways. They get people outside, gathering in a casual atmosphere. They also offer a plethora of fresh produce, prepared foods and other local goods. After all of the hurricane stress eating, many of us have done, fresh fruits and vegetables sound like a good idea.
If you are able and feel up to it, get out and support local with these Weekend Vibes, what’s happening in Southwest Florida Oct 14-16.
