NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 15: Sza speaks onstage during the 27th Annual Webby Awards on May 15, 2023 in New York City.

SZA admitted to having a Brazillian Butt Lift (BBL) in the title track of SOS. Now she is explaining why she decided to get the procedure. “So classic, that a– so fat, it look natural, it’s not,” the New Jersey native sings on “SOS.”

Now, in her Elle cover story published Tuesday (May 30), the singer she gives a more in-depth answer to the decision.

“I always wanted a really fat a– with less gym time,” SZA said. “I didn’t succumb to industry pressure, I succumbed to my own eyes in the mirror and being like, No, I need some more a–.”

The “Kill Bill” crooner compared the body enhancement to an accessory.

“I hate trying on clothes,” she added. “I don’t shop anywhere, I just wear whatever is free in my mail. I’m like, ‘Is it an extra large? Great.’ If I can feel like I’m under a blanket when I’m outside, that’s ideal. I treat my butt like a purse. It’s just there to enhance whatever else. And that’s why I paid for it, because it works all by itself.”

She also explained that choosing to disclose that she got a BBL in her music. “That’s some Jersey s—,” SZA said. “You know what I’m saying? When I feel like I have too much to say and I don’t want to say it cute.”

SZA spoke about her success during her speech when she was honored as Billboard’s Woman of the Year.

“I used to feel like I didn’t belong because I don’t always feel like that, but I realized that the key is to stay open and available for whatever the universe or God wants to do with your life. And it’s like even when you don’t know who you are or you may not see—I don’t know why I’m 10 weeks on Billboard. I’m grateful!”
