Halloween is here and time to get the final items for your trick-or-treat soirees. To add to the adult festivities here are 5 easy cocktails for Halloween parties. The recipes listed here are this week’s Fabulous Find.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve given ideas for creative pumpkin carvings and festive recipes for party appetizers. In addition, last minute DIY costumes and good Halloween themed wine. The final addition to the party is a good cocktail.

The photo above is Candy Corn Shooter. It elevates the infamous Jell-O shot to a whole new lever. It’s not hard just time consuming. The recipe serves 16.

Cocktails For Halloween Parties Candy Corn Shooter Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups boiling Water
  • 1 (3 ounce) package Lemon Flavored gelatin mix
  • 1 (3 ounce) package Orange Flavored gelatin mix
  • 1 (.25 ounce) envelope unflavored gelatin
  • 2 cups Kōloa Kauaʻi Gold Rum, divided
  • Ice Cubes
  • 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • ½ cup Kōloa Kauaʻi Spiced Rum 
  • Divide into shot glasses (Note: For a less boozy shot, adjust rum with water)

Cocktails For Halloween Parties Directions

Pour 3/4 cup boiling water into a small bowl. Add lemon gelatin mix; stir until dissolved. Pour 1 cup Rum into a glass measuring cup; add enough ice to make 1 1/4 cup. Stir into lemon gelatin until slightly thickened; remove any un-melted ice. Fill tall shot glasses 1/3 of the way with lemon gelatin mixture.

Refrigerate until the lemon gelatin layer is set, at least 90 minutes.

Pour remaining 3/4 cup boiling water into the small bowl. Add orange gelatin mix; stir until dissolved. Pour remaining 1 cup Rum into a glass measuring cup; add enough ice to make 1 1/4 cup. Stir into orange gelatin until slightly thickened; remove any un-melted ice. Pour over the lemon gelatin layer.

Refrigerate until the orange gelatin layer is set, at least 90 minutes.

Pour 2 tablespoons of warm water into a bowl. Add unflavored gelatin; stir until dissolved. Stir in condensed milk and ½ cup of Rum. Pour over the orange gelatin layer.

Refrigerate until the top layer is set, at least 30 minutes.

Creative Notes: Gelatin shots can be made for every occasion by changing the colors and flavors. The key is to ensure each layer is completely set before adding the next. In addition to changing the gelatin, change the flavors of rum to keep with the seasonal theme.

  • Green Monster Punch

    Hpnotiq is a unique liqueur that adds color to your Halloween cocktail lineup.

    When was the last time you had Hpnotiq? I remember when it first came out and the bar crowds could not get enough of it. I tried it again for the first time in awhile and I remembered why it’s so popular. It is a blend of vodka, a touch of cognac and a blend of tropical fruit juices that just make you happy.

    Hpnotiq is good on it’s own over ice but also makes some great cocktails. Its color makes it perfect for Halloween festivities. Here is how to make the Green Monster. I think a little bit of dry ice in the pitcher would be the perfect extra touch.

    • 10.5 cups Hpnotiq
    • 5 cups peach vodka
    • 5.5 oz pineapple

    Chill the ingredients and serve in a pitcher over ice. Add some dry ice for extra spooky effects.

  • Black Manhattan

    This one  looks mysterious. You can have some fun with garnishes as well. Here is the recipe

    • 1 part Amaro Averna 
    • 2 parts Russell’s Reserve 6 Year Rye
    • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
    • Garnish: brandied cherry

     Mix all ingredients with ice. Strain into coupe glass and garnish with a brandied cherry. 

     

  • Spicey Honey Paloma

    This is a great way to serve a cocktail, in a punch bowl so you are not behind the bar mixing all night long.

     

    Following Halloween is Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) on November 1st and 2nd this year. This holiday is a Mexican tradition, a time to honor and remember our dearly departed loved ones.
    Families create “Sus Altares de Muertos” (Day of the Dead altars) at home, filled with offerings that represent the things their loved ones cherished in life. It’s a time to gather, share stories, enjoy homemade dishes like mole, and, of course, raise a glass with Mexico’s agave-based spirits.

    2 ounces Partido Reposado
    0.5 oz Lime Juice

    0.5 oz Spicy honey AKA Hot Honey

    4 oz Grapefruit Soda

    Garnish: Citrus Fruit Wheel 

    Build ingredients over cubed ice. Top up with grapefruit soda and garnish with a Citrus fruit wheel.
  • Jack The Ripper

    Small martini class with dark orange cocktail

    Now for something completely different. This almost feels like it is healthy with that fresh juiced carrot. If you don’t have a juicer, you can buy carrot juice as a substitute. I can’t wait to try this one.

    Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into a shot glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.
