2024 Florida International Airshow Is Canceled
More fallout from a devastating hurricane season in Florida. Officials have just announced the 43rd Annual Florida International Airshow is canceled. The annual show in Punta Gorda draws thousands of aviation enthusiast from around the country and the world.
Organizers say the decision was a difficult one. However, the damage across Southwest Florida from back-to-back Hurricanes Helene and Milton make it difficult to move forward with the major event.
“Our community is facing tremendous challenges as we recover from the destruction caused by these two powerful storms,” said Denise Dull, President of the Airshow. “The safety of our attendees, vendors, and volunteers is our highest priority, and at this time, it is clear that the best course of action is to focus on supporting our community’s recovery efforts.”
Florida International Airshow Is Canceled By Hurricane Damage
Both hurricanes have resulted in extensive damage to homes, businesses, and essential infrastructure. Many people are still without power and/or internet. Event organizers feel it is best to direct all Southwest Florida resources to recovery and rebuilding rather than a special event.
The Florida Intenational Airshow is an annual tradition that attracts thousands of visitors every year. It is a fun, family friendly event that has something for everyone from history buffs to thrill seekers. It features all kinds of demonstrations, world famous pilots and aerial acrobatics among other things.
Organizers say they are committed to bringing the event back stronger than ever, once recovery efforts are complete. And once the community is able to celebrate their resilience, once again.
