Florida Hero: Army Veteran Foils Carjacking Attempt at Ocala Starbucks
When you’re still groggy from a night’s sleep, the last thing you expect is a front-row seat to a high-octane police chase. But that’s precisely what happened to Army Veteran, Shane Spicer, a resident of Ocala, Florida who was just minding his own business at his local Starbucks when all hell broke loose.
According to FOX35, Shane had barely been awake for 20 to 25 minutes. (talk about a rough start to the day!), He soon found himself in the middle of an action packed situation unfolding in the Starbucks parking lot. Just your typical morning in Ocala, right?
As Shane casually awaited his morning coffee, chaos was erupting outside. A notorious career criminal named Michael Prouty was on the run, wanted for allegedly breaking into someone’s home and making off with their ride. However, Prouty’s escapade took a nosedive at a busy intersection.
Prouty, undoubtedly in a hurry to escape the cops, sprinted towards the Starbucks like it was the last pit stop on his getaway route. Shane, with his coffee craving still not satisfied, saw this “non-Starbucks coffee drinker” (we all know the type) and knew he had to take action.
Army Veteran Hero:
In a move of pure instinct, Shane jumped into the passenger seat, determined to thwart Prouty’s carjacking attempt. This wasn’t just a cup of joe… This was justice in a to-go cup.
Spicer, held on for dear life. “I’m going to get you, buddy! You’re not going anywhere now! You crossed the line!” he declared, in true superhero fashion.
Body camera footage captured the dramatic moment when officers arrived, and Shane Spicer emerged as the hero who had just had his morning coffee with a side of justice. In the end, the bad guy didn’t stand a chance.
So, next time you’re waiting in line for your latte at Starbucks, keep one eye on your coffee and the other on the parking lot. You never know when your morning brew might come with a side of army veteran heroism.
