Water Taxi Service Coming To Anna Maria Island
Anna Maria Island is a very popular vacation spot and now a new water taxi service is coming to make transportation even easier.
It was reported earlier this week that Anna Maria Island made Travel + Leisure’s list of the 50 best places to travel in 2024. Lucky for us here in Fort Myers, Anna Maria Island is just about 2 hours away. There’s already a lot of people who visit the island, and I’m sure with this news, it will get even busier. But there’s a new way to travel to the island where you’ll fight a lot less traffic. The Bradenton Area Convention & Visitors Bureau announced the new Gulf Islands Ferry Service.
While on Anna Maria Island, having a car isn’t 100% necessary.
When I was living in Sarasota, I’d to the island regularly and I always found that using bikes and golf carts were a lot easier than dealing with the traffic or parking a car. Now, the Gulf Coast Water Taxi will be available to take riders from downtown Bradenton to the Anna Maria City Pier and the Bridge Street Pier. According to a press release, there will be 2 50-foot open air catamarans, Miss Anna Maria and Downtown Duchess, that will transport passengers Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. A one-way ticket will cost $8 per person, so not only is it an easy way to get from the mainland to the island and back, but affordable too.
Gulf Islands Ferry Service is anticipated to start Friday, December 8 (pending final approval), shuttling visitors and residents to and from Anna Maria Island and downtown Bradenton, Fridays through Sundays: https://t.co/AH9B0CgevA pic.twitter.com/a92OFCkkFq
